Welcome to the Training Area! Just post a thread to start training. Apprentices, if your mentor's not there at the moment, do a little hunting or battle practicing. Your mentors will be proud!

Remember: During practice,
Sheath Your Claws!
Here are some battle moves to practice:
Back Kick
- Surprise move to catch opponent from behind. Judge their distance from you, then lash out with back legs, taking weight on your forepaws.

Belly Rake - A fight stopper. Slice with unsheathed claws across opponent's soft belly. If you're pinned down, the belly rake quickly puts you back in control.

Front Paw Blow - Frontal attack. Bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head, claws sheathed.

Frontal Paw Strike - Frontal Attack. Slice downward with your forepaw at the body/face of your opponent, claws unsheathed.

Killing Bite - A death blow to the back of the neck.

Leap-and-Hold - Ideal for a small cat facing large opponent. Spring onto opponent's back & grip with unsheathed claws. Now you're beyond the range of their claws & in position to inflict severe wounds. A group of apprentices can defeat a large & dangerous warrior with this. Try to jump free before getting squashed if the opponent rolls over.

Partner Fighting - Warriors who have trained & fought together often instinctively protect the others' back while fending an opponent on either side. Slashing, clawing, leaping together, pairs can be a whirlwind of danger.

Play Dead - Effective in a tight situation, like when you're pinned. Stop struggling & go limp. When your opponent relaxes his grip, thinking you're defeated, push yourself up suddenly. This will throw off an unwary opponent & put you in attacking position.

Scruff Shake - Secure strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponent's neck; then shake violently until they're too rattled to fight back. Most effective against rats, which are small enough to throw. A strong throw will stun/kill them.

Teeth Grip - Target your opponent's legs, tail, scruff, ears & sink in your teeth & hold. This move is like the leap-and-hold, but your claws are free to fight.

Upright Lock - Final, crushing move on weakened opponent. Rear up on back legs & bring full weight down on opponent. If they do the same, wrestle & flip them under you. This move makes you vulnerable to belly rake, so it requires lots of strength/speed.
